I'm an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of South Florida since Fall 2017. Before joining USF, I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Texas Tech University from 2014 to 2017. I received my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of New Mexico with a PhD minor in Mathematics in 2014. I received my M.Sc. and B.S.c. in Computer Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology in 2009 and Sharif University of Technology in 2007, respectively.

Research interests

  • Network Science, Graph Signal Processing, Stochastic Processes, Data Analytics, Machine Learning and System Modeling with applications in Cyber-Physical-Human Systems with emphasis on Critical infrastructures and particularly Smart Grids and their Reliability, Security and Performance Evaluation and Energy Data Analytics, as well as Modeling and Evaluation of Communication Networks.

Open PhD Positions:

Two funded Ph.D. positions are available for January/Fall 2022 under Dr. Naeini supervision. The Ph.D. positions are in the area of Graph Signal Processing and Machine Learning with the Application in the Reliability and Security of Smart Grids. These positions are expected to be filled before January 2022. Ideal candidates will have (a) a Masters degree (in exceptional cases a Bachelor degree) in the areas related to signal processing, machine learning, or smart grids, (b) strong mathematical skills, (c) interest to pursue independent as well as collaborative research under supervision, (c) and strong technical writing and speaking communication skills.
