I'm an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of South Florida. Before joining USF, I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Texas Tech University from 2014-2017. I received my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of New Mexico, where I worked with Prof. Majeed M. Hayat on characterization of the reliability and efficiency of Computer Networks and Electric-Cyber Infrastructures. I also have a PhD minor in Mathematics from University of New Mexico, where Prof. Maria Cristina Pereyra was my Mathematics adviser. Prior to that, I received my M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology in 2009 and my B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in 2007. I am serving as the Associate Editor of IEEE Communication Letters since 2014.

Research interests

  • Network Science, Stochastic Processes, Network and Data Analytics, Machine Learning and System Modeling with applications in Cyber-Physical-Human Systems with particular emphasis on Smart Grids and their Reliability, Security and Performance Evaluation, Energy Data Analytics, Interdependent Systems, as well as Modeling and Evaluation of Communication Networks.

Highlights:

  • profile picture(2016) We received grant from Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) for basic research project about probabilistic characterization of precursors to cascading failures in the electric-cyber infrastructure.
  • profile picture(2015) We received grant from National Science Foundation (NSF) for project NSF Collaborative Research: CRISP Type 2: Revolution through Evolution: A Controls Approach to Improve How Society Interacts with Electricity .
  • profile picture(2017) I was a Co-PI for TTU Seed Grants for Interdisciplinary Research, Assessing the Livability and Technological Compatibility of an Independent, Interactive, and Sustainable Water and Power Home Utility System.
